(The Path of the Wanderer) “The sunny side of the lake”
You have different options to discover the commercial route which runs along the eastern side of the lake through the main towns along the coast, from Abbadia to Colico, going through Mandello and Varenna. The “Sentiero del Viandante” is a unique opportunity to discover the natural and artistic beauty of the places which dot the coast from Lecco up north. It is an ancient pathway which used to link Milan to Switzerland and shows the commercial importance of the Como area. The path goes from Abbadia Lariana along the coast in and out of villages up to Colico and arrives at the foot of Valtellina. Amazing scenery, geologic and botanical peculiarities, places of faith and outposts of the war, fields, farmhouses, vineyard, olive groves and chestnut woods make up a framework celebrated by poets and writers. It is about 45 km long and it connects to the Strada Regina (route from Colico to Sorico) for the Grand trek of Lake Como.
